Tarmac Café
Deloitte’s charming hidden gem

In January 2018, Deloitte opened the Tarmac Café at their Brussels' office Gateway. The café is a place for their employees to enjoy an after-work drink while watching the planes take off and land at Brussels Airport. Don't be deceived by its appearance: everything is new and built from scratch.

We redesigned Deloitte’s refectory space into a cosy pub where people can relax. To craft every little detail took an incredible amount of time and effort. We speeded up the ageing process of the floor for an authentic look and the tiles were custom made, by hand. The came glasswork was done according to traditional techniques and the wooden windows, while hyper-realistic, are made of aluminium. The painter was a true master!

The café is called Tarmac, referring to the airport apron where planes are parked and boarded. We designed the pub’s branding and interior and took on its realisation from beginning to end. We went on a quest for unique materials and skilled craftspeople, and were responsible for the production and follow-up.
